3D FORM DEVELOPMENT
Abstract exercises

These exercises were developed at the Pratt Institute in the Graduate ID Program. Following the technique created by Rowena Reed Kostelow and Alexander Kostelow, the different exercises deal with different elements of form development and understanding, such as line, plane, surface, volume, proportion and hierarchy. This is a concave and convex surface development exercise.

The four month long exercise is carved from a single piece of plaster. The drawing, about 5' x 7', is oil on canvas.

Years: 2002-2003
Material: Plaster
Size: 28 x 23 x 25 cm.
