A plastic cup is not suited for any of these secondary uses because it was designed to impede degradation, at great energy and pollution expense. If we want to transform this plastic cup into another usable product, more energy and pollution will result. It’s a product incapable of dying. In order to design disposable products, we need materials and processes suitable for all stages in the product’s life, which after their death can give life to something else. Death equals birth. |
